Our strong belief in the concept of a church being a group of people rather than a building means that King’s Church Hastings started in 1974 as a small group of five people meeting in a home. By 1978 it had grown and developed a close working relationship with Terry Virgo, leader of Newfrontiers, and consisted of two home groups led by Don Smith (who also later founded King’s Church Eastbourne) and John Groves (now leader of Winchester Family Church).
Since those small beginnings, the church has grown to 350 adult members with more than 150 children and young people. We now meet in own our own building called The Hastings Centre, which is a former indoor cricket centre located in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty opposite the Conquest Hospital on The Ridge in Hastings.
