Great expectations

As we embark on this new Season of Prayer, Fasting & Giving, we do so with great expectation of all God has for us. It was over six months ago that I preached from 1 Samuel 14, where we read of Jonathan and his armour-bearer attacking the Philistine outpost.

Verse 6 stood out to me: "Perhaps the Lord will act on our behalf. Nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few."

Jonathan had no right to undertake this exploit - circumstances and resources were stacked against him. But something triggered in his heart to say "perhaps" God will do something amazing on behalf of his chosen people.

That 'perhaps' triggered action in Jonathan and it is now triggering action in us. Since I preached on that passage, we've been developing the plans for the Hastings Centre - increasing space for us on Sunday mornings and transforming the facility for everyday use; looking to see many people use this building throughout the week.

We believe that this is the next step in God's purposes for us as a church and ask that you join us in Spirit-filled prayer and faith-filled giving over this coming season. As we give ourselves to God and respond to his prompting, we will continue to see His name glorified in our town and communities.
